You can’t update or download the Facebook app on your iPhone or iPad if your device is not running the supported iOS version. Hence, you will have to be content with the older version of the app.

Currently, Facebook supports iOS 8 or later. That means you won’t be able to download its latest version of the app or update it if your device is not compatible. However, you can still download its older version of the app. To do so, first, delete the app. Just touch and hold on the app and when it starts to wiggle. Tap on the “X” button and then tap on Delete in the popup to confirm.
Next, launch the App Store on your device, Search Facebook and try installing it. When asked for passwords, enter it. After some time, downloading will stop, and you will see a popup reading something like, “Download Older version. The current version of the app supports iOS 8 or later.” Tap on the Download button in the popup to get the older version of the app.
Can’t Update or Download Facebook Even on Supported iOS Devices?
If you are unable to update or download Facebook even on your supported iOS devices, try updating your device to the latest iOS version.
If the app is already installed on your device, delete it. Then, open Settings app → General → Software Update → then download the latest version of the iOS.
