How to Download a Podcast Onto the iPod Nano. Podcasts often offer business-oriented information and tips for individuals and business owners, and every iTunes Store podcast is free of charge. Like all media transferring tasks for your iPod Nano, adding podcasts runs through iTunes, which has the ability to download.

I'm using iTunes 12.5.5.5. When your ipod is connected to iTunes, click on your ipod icon and it gives you a 'summary.' On the left menu, click on 'podcasts.' It should give you a list of all the podcasts you're subscribed to. You click each podcast and it gives you an episode list. You can check the boxes of the ones you want on your iPod. When you have the ones you want, you click 'done' at the bottom of the screeen and let itunes sync.

I feel like it was a lot more difficult with the previous version of itunes and I was having to dowload each podcast to my computer and drag it the iPod. So you may need to update itunes before it works for you.

You can download specific episodes so you can play them when you’re offline, even if you don’t subscribe to the podcast.

Mac
  1. In the Podcasts app on your Mac, search to find podcasts, or click an item under Apple Podcasts in the sidebar on the left.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Control-click an episode, then choose Add To Library.

    • Hold the pointer over an episode, then click the Add button .

    Note: You may need to select a show to see its episodes.

  3. To download the episode, click the More button , then choose Download Episode.

    Optionally, you can click the Download button next to the item.

You can also automatically download new or unplayed episodes for podcasts you subscribe to. See Change General preferences.

To remove a downloaded episode, click the More button , then choose Remove. If you have a trackpad or a Magic Mouse, you can also swipe left with two fingers on the episode, then click Delete.
